Faith

I am a pastor at Trinity Church in New Albany. Dolli is the executive director of Lifehouse Maternity Home in Louisville. Our faith in God is the most important aspect of our lives. I wasn’t a pastor when we met & Dolli’s faith had waned after her divorce. As we talked around the “M” word (marriage, we didn’t say it), faith was a frequent topic of conversation. Eventually, I mustered up the courage to share with her, “At one point in my life, God called me to be a pastor. Running from that calling hasn’t worked out too well & if God renews that calling, my answer would be yes. If that isn’t a journey you wish to take, maybe we shouldn’t continue.” Her reply, “Wherever God leads, that’s where we’ll go.” Within a year after we married, that lack-of-peace feeling returned & I knew it was God. In 2008, I started seminary. In 2009, I left my secular job to begin a career in ministry. In 2012, I graduated seminary. In 2013, we moved to Princeton where I served as pastor at Hillside. I was ordained an elder in the United Methodist Church in 2015. In 2018, we moved to New Albany where I currently serve as the senior pastor at Trinity Church. Dolli credits me with bringing her back to God, but the sentiment is mutual. The maternity home Dolli leads is a faith-based ministry helping women in crisis. Ministry is a team effort & a shared experience between us with mutual support required. Our faith in God has sustained us through the difficult seasons of our lives. Our prayer is that by sharing our faith journey you might be inspired on your own faith journey.
